Jo Serfaty is a Brazilian director and scriptwriter. Sun Inside (2019) is her first feature. Sun inside was selected to thirty film festivals all around the world, including; Mar del Plata(2019), Gotomborg Film Festival (2020), Documenta-Madrid (202) (2020), Neighboring scene(2020) in Lincoln Center. Also, won a special Mention at Doclisboa(2019) and also at Mar del Plata Int'l Film Festival(2019) and best film prize in L’alternativa Barcelona in Spain(2020) and also Transcinema in Peru(2010). She also directed and wrote four short films that went to Hot Springs IDFF, Edinburgh FF, Nuevo cinema Latino americano(Cuba) and FIDOCS among others. Since 2021, she joined the selection committee for the Sundance fund for documentaries and is also a tutor for DOC SP. Besides, Jo Serfaty is developing her next feature film “The edge of the world”.
Jo received a Paradiso Scholarship for the Taller de Revisión de Guion from Cine Qua Non Lab. Jo was selected with the project "The edge of the world", scripted in partnership with Guilherme Zanella, for the Première category of Paradiso Incubator 2023.
