Rita Toledo is a film/TV writer and producer. Rita received her MFA in Screenwriting from the AFI Conservatory (Los Angeles) as a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship. She started her career writing and producing short films such as SOUND AND REST, selected for Cannes 2008. Her screenplays were selected to participate in the Fundación Carolina Residency in Spain and the Berlinale Talents Program. Among them is THREE KINGS NIGHTS, which won Best Actor Award at Brasilia Film Festival 2012. For TV, Rita created and wrote THE LIFE AHEAD, a 10 episode series for Globoplay in Brazil. As a partner at Daza, Rita produced I OWE YOU A LETTER ABOUT BRAZIL, that received a Special Mention in IDFA 2019; and DIVINE DIVAS, that won SXSW 2017 Audience Award and became the highest grossing documentary in Brazil in 2017. Rita also created and produced SONIA SILK OPERATION, a series of three feature films awarded the Hubert Bals Fund, that premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2013.
Rita was awarded a fellowship to attend the Storylines Lab in English (Cine Qua Non Lab) in 2022
