Issis Valenzuela is a director, writer, producer and partner in the production company Tabuleiro Filmes. She graduated from the School of Arts and Communication (University of São Paulo). Issis wrote and directed the short film Crab Recipe, which was selected for the 2020 Cinélatino – Rencontres de Toulouse and received a Special Mention from the Revelation Jury. Crab Recipe was also screened at the 48th Gramado Film Festival and 31º São Paulo International Short Film Festival, among several other film festivals. She also directed the short documentaries Saci Watchers (2013) and Seu Carlão – do Peruche a Pirapora (2018), both screened at festivals such as the Encontro de Cinema Negro Zózimo Bulbul and Curta Cinema. Issis was one of the producers of Shine Your Eyes, a feature film coproduced by Primo Filmes and Tabuleiro. Shine Your Eyes was among those selected for the Panorama session of the 2020 Berlinale in addition to being distributed by Netflix.
In 2021, Issis was awarded a fellowship to the Storylines Lab of Cine Qua Non Lab in Mexico.
