Ricardo Mendonça de França studied Cinema and Audiovisual at Universidade Federal Fluminense, with academic mobility periods at Vassar College and the Tisch School of the Arts of the New York University as a scholarship holder of the Science Without Borders federal program. In 2014 he founded Zooey, a production company dedicated to producing short films about ordinary Brazilian dramas. He directed two shorts: “The Invisible Day” and “Report 01”, and served as director of photography and editor in several others. In 2019, he debuted as one of the directors of “Orphans of a Nation”, a TV Globo telenovela that won the International Emmy Awards, the Rose d'Or Awards for best telenovela and the Grand Prix at the Seoul Drama Awards. His first feature film project, Bestiary, was one of the winners of the “New Original Scripts” contest promoted by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) and was selected for the Script Revision Lab of the Cine Qua Non Lab in 2021.
In 2021, Ricardo was awarded a fellowship to attend the Script Revision Lab in English of the Cine Qua Non Lab.
