Screenwriter, director, curator, and producer. Holds a Master’s degree from UFBA and EQZE (Spain). She has trained at EICTV (Cuba), among other institutions. She is a member of APAN and Talento Paradiso, and co-founder of the production company Sujeito Filmes. She works as a screenwriter and consultant on several projects in development, supported by public funds such as Spcine, TV Brasil, and Ancine, and selected for labs and competitions including Guiões (Portugal), Frapa, iAmo Residency, and Lab Vozes Decoloniais (Brazil/France). Her projects have also been presented at markets such as the Marché du Film, Brasil Cinemundi, and Ventana Sur. She is the screenwriter and director of the short films which have been screened and awarded at national and international festivals such as Londo Film Week, Festival de Brasília, and the Toronto Black Film Festival. In 2026, she directs her first feature film, Star Video, a co-production with Uruguay, distributed by Fistaile.
Vilma was awarded a fellowship to attend the Film Curating Studies master’s degree of Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola in San Sebastián, Spain, in 2021.
