João Ximenes Braga was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1970. Graduated in jornalism and worked in different newsrooms in various roles, among them as a film critic, editor, international correspondent and columnist. In the year 2000 he started to write fiction and since then published five books, most recently the short stories collection “Necrochorume”. He also worked in telenovelas first as collaborator and later as co-author with renowned writers Gilberto Braga and Ricardo Linhares. In 2013, “Side by side”, his first show as main writer with Claudia Lage, won the International Emmy Award of Best Telenovela.
João was selected for the Paradiso Incubator 2022 with his feature screenplay "Inbetween Mirrors".
