Maju de Paiva is a screenwriter and director from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her short films Stray Animals (2015) and Carnation, Lily, Rose (2018), were screened and awarded in festivals such as FICUNAM, FESTin, Kinoforum, Festival de Tiradentes, Curta Cinema and Mostra Sesc de Cinema. In 2017, Stray Animals aired on Canal Brasil, at Curta na Tela and Pausa pro Café. Her first feature film project, Seaside Avenue, written with Bernardo Florim, is a co-production between Elo Company and Viralata Produções and will be licensed by Telecine. The screenplay received the award for Best Feature Film Screenplay at FRAPA, second place at Cabíria Screenplay Award, the Selo Elas Cabíria Award and was selected by the New Stories Lab Sesc/SENAC 2018. In 2021, the project was selected for the workshop Produire au Sud in Nantes, France. Her second feature screenplay, Night Animals, will be distributed by O2 Filmes and was selected for Brasil Cinemundi - Projeto Paradiso Multiplica.
Maju was awarded a fellowship to attend the Produire au Sud 2021 workshop as the director of "Seaside Avenue".
