Mariana Luiza is a director, writer and screenwriter. Member of APAN (Association of Black Audiovisual Professionals/Brazil) and AAWIC (African American Women in Cinema/USA). She holds a degree in Administration from Universidade Federal Fluminense, a degree in film script from the New York Film Academy and in Editing from the Darcy Ribeiro Film School. In 2010, she debuted in cinema as director and producer of the documentary A B Ser (52min). In 2017, she scripted, produced and directed the fiction short film Casca de Baobá (12 min). Casca de Baobá was shown in several festivals in Brazil and around the world. The film won 6 awards. Mariana also works as a screenwriter and researcher for film and television projects. As a screenwriter, she worked for Coqueirão, Gaia Filmes Preta Portê and Convisão. Recently, Mariana directed two episodes of the series Enigma da Energia Dark (GNT). In addition to signing the overall direction of the series.

Mariana was awarded a fellowship to attend the Festival de Cali's VI Salón de Productores, in 2021.
