Armando Praça is a Brazilian sociologist, screenwriter, and filmmaker born in 1978 in Aracati, Ceará. He has worked as an assistant director, screenwriter, and actor coach for renowned filmmakers in Brazil. The short and medium-length films he has written and directed have been selected for over 30 international festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand, IFF, Toulouse Latin American Festival, and Mecal in Barcelona. Among them are "The Bionic Woman", "The Clown's Love", "Origin: Destiny", and "Amusement Park". His first feature film, "GRETA", starring Marco Nanini, premiered at the 69th Berlinale in 2019 and was selected for more than 40 international festivals worldwide. He released his second feature film "Fortaleza Hotel" in 2022. His recent works as a screenwriter include the series "Me Chama de Bruna" (T1) for Fox Tv, "Betinho" for GloboPlay, "Maria Bonita" for Star+ and "City of God" for HBO. The feature film "Paloma" by Marcelo Gomes and "The Character" by Fábio Mendonça. In parallel, he is preparing his third feature film, "Madrugada", with plans to start filming in the first half of 2024.
Praça was awarded a fellowship to attend the Produire au Sud 2023 workshop as the director of "Where You’re Headed".
