Karkará Tunga graduated in Cinema and Audiovisual from the Federal University of Pernambuco. They is indigenous Karaxuwanassu and sits on his people's leadership council. They created the editing and sound design for the short film “O Verbo Se Fez Carne”, winner of the “Best Sound Design” award at the 18th Primeiro Plano and “Best Sound” at the 13th Curta Taquary, also nominated for “Best Sound” at the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro (2021). Their script “Suçuarana” went through the development group at Centro Cultural Marieta, was selected in the laboratories “Cena 15” at Porto Iracema das Artes and “V Argumenta” at Sesc Rio and at the residency “Desde la Raíz” offered by Fundación Algo en Común, held in the city of Cali (Colombia).
Karkará was awarded a fellowship in 2023 to attend the Desde la Raíz residency, offered by Fundación Algo en Común.
