Maíra Brito is a screenwriter and director. Born in São Paulo, raised in Recife, she currently resides in Brasília (DF), where she works as a journalist at the Chamber of Deputies. With a Master's degree in Communication from the Federal University of Pernambuco, she has been accumulating experience in non-fiction projects for Public TVs since 2004, notably at TV Câmara (Brasília, DF), where she was the first black woman to present, write, and direct programs and documentaries, contributing to four documentaries, four documentary series, four programs. Her short film "À Tona" (2018) marks her first fictional screenplay for cinema and has been officially selected at festivals such as Gramado, Rio International Film Festival, and Brasília Film Festival. She also participated in screenwriting rooms on Netflix and Paramount. Additionally, she worked as a reviewer for RioFilme and as a curator at festivals like Frapa and Cabíria. Currently, she is working on three original projects: the romantic comedy "I AM YOUR BELOVED," the musical drama "B-GIRL" (both in development), and the psychological thriller "GUIDE TO CHANGE THE COUNTRY" (in production).

Maíra was awardwd a fellowship to participate in Filma Afro Cartagena 2024 and joined the Talent Network.
