André Sampaio (Rio de Janeiro/1975) is an audiovisual director and editor. Graduated in Cinema with a Master's Degree in Oral History, he produced in several formats (16mm/ 35mm/ digital/ video art) active since the 90s. His trajectory is marked by direct involvement with popular religiosity, music and the Brazilian indigenous cause. He directed the feature film SANTO DAIME - EMPIRE OF THE FOREST: origins and consequences of the ritual use of ayahuasca and the short film ANCIENT SOUL, MODERN WORL– UMBANDA IN BRAZIL, among other features and shorts. As a film editor, he has worked on several Brazilian productions, such as the award-winning fiction feature ALIENS NIGHT by Sérgio de Carvalho (2022), AZOUGUE NAZARÉ by Tiago Melo (2018): Best Editing at the Rio Festival and nominated in the editing category for the Platino Award of Ibero American Cinema. He currently assembles PASARGADA by Dira Paes, who participates in the First Cut Lab Paradiso Brazil.
André is the editor of feature film "Pasárgada", selected for First Cut Lab Paradiso Brazil's second edition.
