Joana Oliveira is a screenwriter and film director from Belo Horizonte. She has worked with film and TV since 1999. She has a Master's degree in Film Studies from the School of Fine Arts, UFMG, Brazil. She has graduated in Film Direction from EICTV,Cuba, and in Social Communications from PUC Minas, Brazil. She has directed several productions such as short fiction films, documentaries and TV programs. She has written several fiction and documentary series, as well as feature films. Her short films have already been selected for several international festivals such as Festival de Cartagena (Colombia), Lakino (Germany), Huesca Film Festival (Spain), Festival de Habana (Cuba), Festival de Cine de Guadalajara (Mexico), San Diego Latino Film Festival (USA), Tiradentes Film Festival (Brazil) and have been shown on television channels. She directed two documentary feature films: Kevin (2021) and Morada (2010). Joana also works as a university professor and script consultant. She is currently a partner at Bukaya Filmes.
Joana received a fellowship to participate in the VI Residência Iberoamericana de Guión of the Algo en Común Foundation, and joined the Talent Network.
