Karen Suzane is a filmmaker graduated in film school from Fluminense Federal University. In 2018, she directed the short The Woman I Was , selected at the 5th BDMG Award for Incentive Low Budget Short Films. The film won 4 awards: Best Short Film at Mostra Mineira - 12th MOSCA, Akuaba Award - II Mostra Itinerante de Cinemas Negros – Mahomed Bamba; Best Art Direction - Foreground; Best Minas Gerais Film - Mostra Interações. In 2020, she directed the documentary webseries, Gastronomic DNA, e during the pandemic, Karen developed the short films: Celebrate: One Movie, Many Stories, The Solution is in Chaos, Vent and Spring Poetry. The filmmaker is currently in the pre-production phase of A Dress to See Mommy, approved by the Municipal Law for Cultural Incentive, of Belo Horizonte. Her first feature film, Four Girls, by screenwriter Clara Ferrer, went through Nicho 54, a screenwriting lab in 2020 and was selected by the Hubert Bals Fund, with a prize for the development of the script.

In 2021, Karen received the Paradiso Award after being selected for the Hubert Bals Fund with "Four Girls", written alongside Clara Ferrer.
