Laís Santos Araújo (1993) is a director and screenwriter from Maceió. She was part of the 50th La Résidence du Festival de Cannes, in Paris. Her short film “Infantaria” was awarded at the 73rd Berlinale the Best Film prize (Generation 14plus). The short qualified for the Oscars after winning the Grand Prix at the Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival and was a finalist at the Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix. Her films have been screened at festivals such as Palm Springs, Cartagena, Rotterdam, Vienna Shorts, and Kaohsiung. “Marina”, her first feature film currently in post-production (co-dir. with Pethrus Tibúrcio), was selected by the Hubert Bals Fund, CineMart, Porto Iracema das Artes, and Darkroom. She is the founder of Aguda Cinema, which has financed three feature films, including “Infantaria”, selected for programs such as La Fabrique, BrLab Features, Cinelatino Toulouse, and CineMundi.
In 2024, Laís was selected to participate in the 6th edition of the Paradiso Incubator with the "Infantry" project.
