Born in Matão, a town in the interior of São Paulo, Leon Barbero moved to the capital to study Cinema (FAAP) - graduated in 2014. In his last year of film school, Leon co-founded an advertising video production co., where he performed as Director, Producer, and Editor. He was the director of the recordings of the Municipal Theater of São Paulo spectacles (2014-2017). In 2019, Leon decided to follow his passion for fiction Cinema and founded Joki - a production co. dedicated to developing original projects. In 2020, produced and directed his debut short film “Babelon” –selected by Curta Cinema and Mostra Tiradentes. As a screenwriter, he was a semi-finalist in FRAPA 2020 with "Genesis", a finalist for ROTA 2019 in the categories "best screenplay" and "best dialogue" with "Crimson King", a finalist for ROTA 2021 in the category "best character" with "Delay", and a semi-finalist for the Rota - Cabíria ROTA 2019 Award with "God Doesn't Give Wings to Snakes".

Leon was awarded a fellowship to attend the TFL Extended Film 2021.
