Lorran Dias is a film director, curator and visual artist born and residing in Favela da Maré (RJ). He was internationally selected in the American Film Showcase (Los Angeles, 2023), Apichatpong Weerasethakul's Creators Lab: Filmin in the Amazon (Peru, 2022), Talents Buenos Aires 2022 and the Gotebörg Film Fund 2021, as well as exhibitions in institutions such as Arsenal - Film and Video Institute (Berlin, 2022). He is artistic director and curator of TV Coragem (2020), commissioned by Instituto Moreira Salles, where he programmed several curatorships in expanded cinema for sessions on the internet (Festival Escuta 2021) and in the institution swimpool open to the public (Festival Escuta 2023). He directed and wrote Between the Colony and the Stars (Rio de Janeiro Int'l Film Festival 2022), Novo Rio (Bahari Festival, Indonesia, 2021), Usina-Desejo (Special Jury Prize, Festival de Vitória 2021), Perpétuo (Festival de Rotterdam , 2019), among other works with the Anarca Filmes collective that he co-founded in 2014. In addition to these, his latest works were commissioned by the Museum of Art of Rio de Janeiro, Pivô Arte e Pesquisa, carried out with resources from the Federal Government of Brazil, Secretary of Culture of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Critical + Creative Social Justice Studies by the University of British Columbia (Canada), Heinrich Boll Stiftung (Germany/Rio) and recognized by The Documentary Impact Producer Relief Fund of the Doc Society (London/New York). As an Assistant Director, he has been working in the industry since 2017, he has participated as 1st, 2nd or 3rd in projects with Youtube, Maria Farinha Filmes BR, Canal Futura, Porta dos Fundos, in addition to feature films awarded in 2022 by the Locarno Festival, and by the Félix Prize - River Party.

Lorran was awarded a fellowship to attend the Apichatpong Weerasethakul Lab in 2022.
