Maíra Brito is a screenwriter and director. Born in São Paulo and raised in Recife, she now lives in Brasília, where she works as a journalist at the Chamber of Deputies. Holding a Master's degree with research focused on contemporary Brazilian documentaries, she has built experience in non-fiction for public broadcasters since 2004 — notably at TV Câmara, where she was the first Black woman to host, write, and direct programs and documentaries. Her short film "À Tona" (2018) was her first fiction screenplay, selected for the festivals of Gramado, Rio, and Brasília. She has worked as a screenwriter for Netflix and Paramount, and serves as a script reader, curator, and jury member at festivals across Brazil, including Riofilme (2022–24) and the Festival de Brasília (2025). "Manual para Mudar o País" (2026) is her first feature-length screenplay.

Maíra was awardwd a fellowship to participate in Filma Afro Cartagena 2024 and joined the Talent Network.
