Maya Da-Rin is a filmmaker screenwriter and visual artist, who has created fiction films, documentaries and installations. She holds a master’s degree in Cinema and Art History from Paris III, attended workshops at the Cine and TV school in Cuba and participated in residences at Studio des Arts Contemporains Le Fresnoy, Cinéfondation (Festival de Cannes), TorinoFilmeLab and LABoral Art Center. Her works have been shown at numerous festivals such as Toronto, Rotterdam, and Brasilia, and in museums such as MoMA and New Museum. His first feature film, “The Fever” (2019), had its world premiere at the Locarno, where it won the Golden Leopard for Best Actor, in addition to the international critic award FIPRESCI. The film was shown at more than 60 festivals and won 30 awards, including Best Film at festivals such as Brasília, Biarritz and Indie Lisboa, and Best Direction in Chicago and Rio. Currently, she develops the project “Nightsong”, awarded by the Hubert Bals Fund for development.

In 2021, Maya received the Paradiso Award after being selected for the Hubert Bals Fund with "Nightsong".
