Demes is a Brazilian filmmaker. Her films bring to the screen dark visions of the unconscious. Her protagonists are usually women and her work revolves around their fears and desires. She lived 13 years in Spain and 2 in the US, is the mother of two cats, a meditator, a jogger and a lover of the woods. Demes directed an animated short "Halloween", which caught the attention of the American director David Lynch. Lynch awarded Demes entry into the David Lynch MA in Film, in the US, where she shot her first feature film "Lilith's Awakening", which competed in BAFICI 2017 for best film in the avant-garde and genre section. MyMama Entertainment will produce her trilogy of films: “Requiem”, “Evil Within”; and “The Woods.” Those scripts were developed and improved by programs such as the artistic residency at the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences in Spain, the Ibero-American Course on the Development of Audiovisual Projects - CDPAI by IBERMEDIA in Madrid, Brazil on set, the French-Brazilian laboratory of scripts from the Varilux Film Festival, Bolivia Lab, Lab Guion Colombia and Ventana Sur, receiving scholarships from institutions such as Fundación Carolina, Ibermedia, Madrid City Hall and Projeto Paradiso. “When I was five, I used to hide myself with my gramma to watch all the horror films that my parents would forbid me to watch. And now this is what I do, I write, and I direct horror films.”

Monica was awarded a fellowship to attend the Curso de Desarollo de Proyectos Audiovisuales Iberoamericanos (CDPAI) to develop her feature film “Figura Negra”.
