Yasmin Thayná is a director and screenwriter. She recently directed the short film "O Tempo é um Pássaro", which is currently being showcased at film festivals. In 2025, she will release the feature film “Virgínia e Adelaide” in Brazilian cinemas, co-directed with Jorge Furtado. The film is based on the life, work, and meeting of a Black Brazilian sociologist and a White German-Jewish doctor, starring Sophie Charlotte and Gabriela Correa. She also directed “Amar É Para os Fortes” (2023, Prime Video), a social drama about motherhood, violence, and justice. Yasmin is also the director of “Toda Família Tem”, a comedy series. Known for her short film “Kbela” (2015), which won the Best African Diaspora Film award at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in 2017, Yasmin has directed several series, television programs, short films, and music videos. She was named by Forbes in 2021 as one of the 90 most brilliant Brazilian names under 30 in her field. She is a CreativeX, recognized by Wired as one of the 50 people transforming creativity in Brazil. Yasmin wrote and directed the second season of the series “Política: Modo de Fazer” (2020, Globonews); she was the screenwriter for “Por um Respiro” (2020, Globoplay) and “Fartura” (2019), a short film nominated for Best Documentary by the Brazilian Academy of Cinema. Her work has been featured at various international festivals both in Brazil and abroad.
